This is probably my last true summer post, and I'm real sad about it. I really, really, love summer and always have a hard time letting it go. Is anyone else like that?
I wanted to share two of my favorite colorful outfits from summer.
In my opinion, bright sun + bright colors = summer style perfection.
We found this mural on Alberta Street on a night out. I wore a LuLaRoe Cassie (if you've never tried this skirt it is so comfy!) and an Old Navy tunic tank knotted at the side (see another look for this tank here). Nude pointed flats complimented the outfit without competing with the patterned skirt. A necklace with blue detail pulls in the color of the skirt, and I wore my glasses too. I feel like this look is a tiny bit edgy, which I love. Side note: this was also the first day I'd blow dried and straightened my hair in probably a solid three months, and it felt good!
The second look is a very casual and comfy hot day outfit. The top is another LuLaRoe item, the classic tee. I like the cheerful patterns the brand offers. I french-tucked that (Fab Five, anyone?) into basic Old Navy denim shorts. Notice a theme of my Old Navy and LLR summer uniform?
What's really fun about this look is the sassy hairdo. I recently finally mastered the french braid and was playing around one day and came up with this half up french braid top knot. Here's a tutorial.
and a close up.
When I get sad about summer ending, I remind myself there will always be more summers. More pool time, floating the river, camping, reading a book cover to cover in a few days, late nights, and color and sun.

Yay, I love that mural on Alberta! Street art is totally my jam. Also, I need to learn to french braid. I'm terrible at it... but I guess I just need to practice. The braid looks adorable on you!
ReplyDeleteI ove it so much when you wear colors. The skirt outfit is so cute and I love love the fun braided style on the second look!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, welcome by and linkup with me (I have a new monthly Tuesday linkup, below). The Tuesday linkup is skirt-related and your first outfit would be perfect for it, and as usual stop by tomorrow for my weekly Thursday Moda! Thanks.

You braid is amazing Kelsey! I am the WORST at doing my hair, so I just always leave it down... Hair goals for sure!
ReplyDeleteThat braid looks great! I haven't quite mastered it myself but I hope to some day! Love both of your colorful pieces. It does scream summer and it's perfect way to enjoy the warm weather.
