Rockin' Your Summer Wardrobe Staples in the Fall

I get real excited about Fall. I can't wait to say hello to warm drinks and changing colors, and a return to routine. But sometimes, it's hard for me to let go of summer.

Well, I've figured out one way I can hold on to the carefree, sunny days of summer- by making my favorite warm weather items work for fall!

Spoiler Alert!
Moral of the story: throw on a cardigan and/or boots :)

Daniel got me this paisley dress for my birthday several years ago and I just love it. Above, I'm wearing it during the summer with flip flops and sun glasses, full out summer style. That day we were relaxing and exploring in Tri-Cities right after we moved to Hermiston. Not the most flattering picture of me (it's hard to sit on a rock like a lady!) but you get the idea.

Dress- Charlotte Russe
Sweater- Hand me down!
Boots- Carlos Santana

I made the paisley dress work for fall by pairing it with a loose, long cardigan and my favorite boots. This cardigan is a hand-me-down from my sister, who gives the best hand me downs ever. This outfit felt pretty and put together and I wore it to work.

I found this polka dot dress at Forever 21 last Spring and wore it to a friend's wedding in August. In the summer I wore it with wedges, pearls, and a white belt. Yes, that is my handsome husband also looking very dapper.

Part of the reason this dress appealed to me (besides the fact that I adore polka dots) was how versatile I knew it would be. Add black tights, a brown belt to match the boots, and throw a jean jacket over it, and it makes a cute outfit for Fall.

Dress- Forever 21
Jacket- Style & Co, Macy's
Belt- Fred Meyer
Tights- Target
Boots- Carlos Santana

I wore this outfit for my first day of school at the High School. I wasn't trying to fit in, but I do often get mistaken for a student. Yes, yes, looking young will be a good thing later on.

Here we go again with the polka dots! I saw this yellow blouse at JC Penney last Spring and knew I had to have it. I think I told Daniel that if I was a shirt, I would be this shirt. I wore it to a baseball game in June.

Blouse- Arizona, JC Penney
Sweater- American Eagle
Necklace- Maurice's
Trousers- Maurice's
Shoes- Target
Bag- Tutilo

I updated this cheerful blouse for Fall by pairing it with a lightweight white cardigan and denim trousers. I found these trousers at Maurice's and I'm kind of obsessed- I love how they look so polished, but they're pretty much jeans! I wore some feminine menswear shoes and accessorized with a long pearl necklace.

This was one of those "I need a picture for my blog but we're also running late and I need to head to Jazzercise!" pictures, hence the keys in hand.

Although the shorts and swimsuits are being put away, I'm happy to find some ways I can fit my favorite warm weather items into my year round wardrobe! How are you transitioning your wardrobe from Summer to Fall? What's your favorite thing about Fall?
