Oh Hey, Spring! : A Lookbook for the Inbetween

Feel that warmth in the air and the sliver of blue sky? Spring is almost here!

Spring means so many wonderful things. One of those is a wardrobe update.
Read on for ideas on how to dress for that in between time, say so long to winter, and welcome spring into your style.
. Jacket- Macy's . Peplum top- JC Penney .  Statement Necklace- Charming Charlie .

It's time to put away those heavy winter coats and bring out your lighter jackets. Opt for cheerful colors or pastels. I've had this sunny yellow jacket for almost 10 years and I think I'll keep it for at least 10 more.

. Capri khakis- Gap . Shoes- Target .

Layer pretty jackets over a bright patterned top. Stack on a matching statement necklace with coordinating shoes. I like to get a little matchy-matchy in the spring. I remember a springy outfit I had in fifth grade of a bright tangerine shirt and matching floral capris- I loved it.

Don't put away those leggings and boots yet (thank goodness)! Some days are still plenty chilly for sweaters. Say 'see you next fall' to winter's neutral tones and pull on bright, cheerful colors.  I just noticed my last two style posts are dominated by grey- it's definitely time for some color! Throw on a jean jacket for extra warmth.

. Sweater- American Eagle . Jean Jacket- Style & Co .

. Long Sleeve- Gap . Polka dot crops - JC Penney . Black Pumps (comfortable!) - Payless ShoeSource .

Crop pants are an absolute sign of Spring and what is more cheerful and neat than polka dots? Crisp, clean styles are a personal favorite for the season. Pair patterned crops with a solid long-sleeve top and classic pumps.

. Scarf- gifted . Cardigan- American Eagle . Dress- Thrifted, Loft .

I wear my sundresses all year long- cardigans and scarves always do the trick. The same is true for Spring. A solid dress with a patterned scarf or vise versa works great.
. Boots- Carlos Santana .

Pull on a lightweight cardigan and boots for a cheerful look that lets your legs feel the sun but still keeps you warm.

I know I'm eager to put away my warmest layers and store some long pants and welcome spring with vibrant looks. I did a similar post last year, check it out for more ideas.

There are lots of fun things about updating fashion with the change of the seasons, but one thing is always annoying: storage. After packing up all your stuff you have to find somewhere to put it (which is hard if you're in a little apartment!), and then remember where it was to find it next year. I recently heard of an ingenious service that would eliminate this problem. MakeSpace is like a second closet- you box up last season's clothes, shoes, and accessories, they'll pick them up, and then send them back to you when those styles come back. I think this is a pretty great option for a few reasons. First, it frees up closet space and the whole mess of storage. Second, I just love getting mail and packages. How exciting to get a new delivery of clothes perfect for the season that you already know you love, and have already paid for! Check out their website at makespace.com to find out more great features of this "Closet in the Cloud".

  5. This is so brilliant! I totally agree it's hard to switch out wardrobes in a small apartment, and having someone come take away a whole season's worth of clothes sounds perfect! Love these bright spring outfits!
